A Modern Market Steeped In History: 2000 Penn stands across from the original Western Market, built in 1802 as one of the three marketplaces in Pierre L'Enfant's plan for Washington, DC. Today, the new Western Market is reminiscent of the original marketplace, serving as an all-day dining destination perfect for those who live and work in the area, along with tourists and visitors alike.
