Wolverines Win!!!

September 20th, 2014

The day started off with Nick hosting live trivia in and out of the commercial breaks on Fox News 5's Good Day DC and ended with a World Record and the Wolverines from Siné Irish Pub winning the Summer 2014 Tournament of Champions!

After appearing on News Channel 8's "Let's Talk Live", Nick was asked to host trivia and talk about the World Record attempt during Friday's "Good Day DC" on Fox News 5. So Nick promptly broke out his "In Case of TV Appearance, Break Glass" vest and the District Trivia crew hustled all afternoon creating music questions and content to be ready for live TV Friday morning. The hosts and crew at "Good Day DC" were a blast with Allison and Steve tying trivia despite Wisdom's last minute heroic efforts. Thankfully, our preparation paid off and Nick was ready with a last minute tie breaking question giving Allison the win!

While Nick was on air, we received official approval from Guinness to attempt to break the World Record for Largest Music Quiz. Surprisingly, the approval included a the requirement of video of the entire attempt and that the music round last a minimum of 30 minutes. Last minute video camera purchases and re-organizing the Summer 2014 Tournament of Champions schedule paid off and the previous record of 355 was broken with 392 participants! Now we'll have to slog through the documentation and paperwork nightmare of getting official approval.

If you took pictures during the World Record attempt last night please email them to contact at district trivia dot com soonest! If possible, please identify the team and any people by name for us to include in our documentation to Guinness. Your information WILL NOT be used or shared beyond this documentation effort.

After the lengthy music round and a number of leader changes "Wolverines!!!" from Siné Irish Pub pulled off the win by only 2 points and took home $1,000 in cash and FREE BEER for a year!

A special mention goes out to "Blunders Never Cease" from Carpool for becoming the first FREE PASS winner to ever finish in the money with their 3rd place win last night!

Additionally congrats goes out to "4202 Across" from Looney's Pub for their K'Nex Ferris wheel that held the team's cell phones all night. Very cool!

Thank you to everyone who came out last night and beared with us through the last minute logistical changes during the music round. We had a great time and are already planning for the Winter 2015 tournament starting Monday, November 3rd at a District Trivia venue near you!
